IOWA HEALS PARTNERING
GROUPS
Iowa
Physicians for Social Responsibility
The Iowa Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) is the
statewide chapter of the National PSR, a nonprofit, non-partisan
organization committed to preserving people’s health and well being
through research, education and advocacy. Both the state chapter and
national organization combine the power of an active and concerned
citizenry with the credibility of physicians and other health care
professionals to promote policies that protect human health from the
threats of nuclear war and other weapons of mass destruction, global
environmental degradation, and the epidemic of gun violence in our
society.
University
of Iowa Center for Human Rights (UICHR)
The Center’s mission is to support the
promotion and protection of human rights at home and abroad by
providing leadership in human rights research, education, and public
service to the UI, its surrounding community, the state of
Iowa and beyond. The UICHR is a part of International Programs, which
enables University of Iowa students, faculty, staff and the public to
learn from and about the world.
University
of Iowa Lecture Committee
The University of Iowa Lecture Committee serves to organize a series of
prominent guest lecturers with the mission of enhancing the learning
environment and providing unique and thought-provoking experiences for
the UI community through interactions with leaders in contemporary
social thought.
University
of Iowa Pentacrest Museums
The UI Museum of Natural History joined with the Old Capitol Museum in
2004 to form the University of Iowa Pentacrest Museums, the former
focused on exploring the natural environments of Iowa and beyond, and
Old Capitol focused on the history and culture of Iowa. The Biosphere
Discovery Hub is Iowa’s Gateway to the Global Environment. It is a new
environmental exhibition gallery featuring the history of human
cultural influence on the land highlighting the contributions of UI
global environmental research.
