There is a saying: “while US citizens talk environment, they tend to vote their pocketbooks.”  Of course, one of the great economic impacts of global climate change will be the added health costs in terms of illness, lost productivity, and degradation of medical and social infrastructure. 

INTERGOVERNMENTAL PANEL ON CLIMATE CHANGE (IPPC) REPORTS
Corecipient of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize – Series of reports since establishment by the World Meterological Organization and the UN Environmental Programme have established global warming as a man-made crisis that demands urgent action (http://www.ipcc.ch).

THE STERN REPORT

For a better understanding of how health, environment, and economic issues are intertwined, we point to the Stern Review on the Economics of Climate Change commissioned in 2005 by and presented in 2006 to the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer and is available in printed form or online:

THE UN, SWISS RE, AND HARVARD REPORT
The UN, the insurance industry, and the prestigious Harvard Center for Health and Global Environment directed by Paul Epstein MD has prepared a massive assessment of the effects of climate change on health,
jointed released by Harvard (Center for Health and Global Environment), UNDP (United Nations Development Programme & Swiss Re (Swiss global insurer of insurance companies) on
Climate Change Impacts on Health.

Instructions
  1. Print both sides of a 8.5 x 11"  sheet.
  2. Cut each sheet in quarters. 
  3. Tape two individually-wrapped Life Saver candies on the front of each Coolie. 
  4. Hand them out, put them in a basket on your desk.
